Those lucky to be in the New York City area will have a double treat as Maxwell graces the Rockefeller Center Plaza on the Today Show on Friday, June 25th as part of their outdoor ‘Summer Concert Series’.

Later that evening Maxwell will hit the stage of Madison Square Garden for his sold out concert with opener Jill Scott.

The ‘Plaza’ will be packed in the morning and the ‘Garden’ will be packed at night!

The long awaited third video, ‘Fistful of Tears’ from Maxwell’s platinum selling CD, BLACKsummers’night will debut on Wednesday, April 14th.

Platinum-selling soul star Maxwell is still making news nearly a year after the release of his hit album ‘BLACKsummers’night.’

The singer and songwriter scores a three-peat this week with “Fistful of Tears,” his third consecutive #1 on Billboard’s Urban Adult airplay charts, making him the first male artist to achieve this feat according to the magazine.

Maxwell will perform the history-making single on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” on April 20th and NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 22nd, as he preps for the most talked about tour of the summer, his major arena dates with Jill Scott. The tour starts May 21 in Cleveland, Oh.

It’s just been announced that Maxwell will be joined by Erkyah Badu for his second Madison Square Garden performance on June 26. The first night, June 25, featuring Jill Scott, is sold out. The remainder of Maxwell’s current summer arena tour dates will feature Jill Scott.

Last fall, Maxwell entered the history books at Billboard when “Pretty Wings” and “Bad Habits,” the first two singles from ‘BLACKsummers’night,’ monopolized the top two slots on the Adult R&B radio airplay chart.

As Maxwell adds more dates to his tour (see additional dates for Atlanta,  New York and DC on tour page),  he will be adding another opening act. Jill Scott will not be the opening act on the added dates.

Maxwell has announced on his twitter page that Erykah Badu will be opening for him on the very last date at Madison Square Garden in New York City on June 26th.

It has not been confirmed if she will join him in Atlanta and DC, as well. Regardless of who joins Max on the additional dates, this tour promises to be the ‘do not miss’ concert of 2010.
