Also on Friday, Maxwell was in attendance at the 41st NAACP Image Awards. Anthony Anderson and Toni Braxton were the presenters for the ‘Outstanding Male Artist’ category.

Anthony’s reaction when he opened the envelope and said Maxwell’s name was priceless and did not hide the fact of who he was pulling for.

As Maxwell made his way to the stage to graciously accept his award, he received a standing ovation from the crowd and as he delivered his acceptance speech, the camera caught cutaway shots of several females in the audience who could not hide what many viewers at home were probably doing, as well.

Maxwell talks at Press Conference in New York City, May 28th

Maxwell talks at Press Conference in New York City, May 28th

April 28, 2009 was a great day for Maxwell fans. With rumored release dates posted on the internet year after year since his self imposed hiatus, Maxwell finally gave the fans what they had been anxiously anticipating - an official release date for the first CD of his long awaited trilogy BLACKsummers’night.

Although, the release date of July 7, 2009 had been announced as official, some still did not want to get their hopes dashed, yet again. The press conference made it truly official. As they waited for the man of the hour (excuse me, YEAR!), invited guests were treated to several tracks from the CD. When Maxwell appeared, he answered five questions from the press and mingled with the guests afterwards. Several of those in attendance at the press conference/release party gave the CD high marks and informed us that we will not be disappointed. (We had no worries)

In addition to the press conference, Maxwell’s official site http://www.musze.com was re-launched with the video premiere of the first single, Pretty Wings And within hours, the first dates were announced for the 2009 tour:

Milwaukee (Sat-June 20) / Seattle (Tue-June 23) / Vancouver (Wed-June 24)
Las Vegas (Fri-June 26) / Los Angeles-BET Awards (Sun-June 28)
Phoenix (Mon-June 29) / Austin (Wed-July 1) / San Antonio (Thu-July 2)
New Orleans (Sat-July 4) / Nashville (Sun-July 12) / Louisville (Mon-July 13)
Columbus (Wed-July 15) / Cleveland (Thu-July 16) / Pittsburgh (Sat-July 18)
Buffalo (Sun-July 19) / Albany (Tue-July 21) / Atlantic City (Fri-July 24)
Foxwoods (Sat-July 25) / Norfolk (Mon-July 27) / Savannah (Tue-July 28)
Tampa (Thu-July 30) / Miami (Sat-August 1) / Orlando (Sun-August 2)

Maxwell wasn’t joking when he told us some months back that he was going to be “in our face so much…”. He continued by saying that we were going to get tired of seeing him. So, not true, Max. Keep it coming!

MAXWELL PANTY RAIDS RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL

Oct 10, 2008, 07:10 PM | by Margeaux Watson

Mawxwell“There are not enough panties on my stage tonight!”

That’s long-MIA soul singer Maxwell working the ladies in the house—including Rosie Perez and Holly Robinson Pete—during his concert at New York’s Radio City Music Hall last night. From channeling ’80s-era Prince to delivering a scorching rendition of Al Green’s “Simply Beautiful,” the Brooklyn native received a hero’s welcome at the hometown stop of his first tour in six years, featuring opening act Jazmine Sullivan, who recently dropped her buzzworthy debut CD, Fearless. In addition to dry humping the stage (!) and performing old favorites like “Fortunate” and “Lifetime,” Max previewed three seductive new cuts (“Pretty Wings,” “Bad Habits,” “Cold”) from his much-anticipated follow-up to 2001’s Now.

No release date has been announced yet, but if yesterday’s show is any indication of what to expect, his next CD is likely to be the hottest comeback album since Mariah Carey’s 2005 miracle, The Emancipation of Mimi. See for yourself when BET’s Access Granted goes behind the scenes of the tour’s kick-off show in South Africa, airing on Oct. 19 at 10PM.

MAXWELL REQUESTS ‘PANTIES’ AND GETS THEM!

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

During his sold out concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on October 9th, Maxwell stopped the intro to ‘Til the Cops Come Knockin’ to say, “There are not enough panties on my stage.”  Immediately - as if pre-planned - a pair of panties which was wrapped around a blue rose, flew on the stage courtesy of Diana aka HISChynaMami from the MAXWELLfanforum.

Although, not staged, it was pre-planned by the group members who attended the New York show as part of their ‘MISSION ‘M’ POSSIBLE task.

The panties were signed by the members.
